The Mindful Prof (TMP) is a team of wellness practitioners led by Dr. Kelsey Evans-Amalu, offering research-backed contemplative strategies to foster mindful living and personal growth. We provide personalized services, including somatic coaching and bodywork therapies, all aimed at promoting mind-body balance and holistic well-being.
We help you discover mindful living and foster personal growth.
The Mindful Prof is where science meets soul for embodied resilience. We blend science with compassion to support deep, lasting transformation, from burnout to embodied resilience.
At The Mindful Prof, we guide individuals in learning mindfulness-based strategies to foster autonomy, emotional regulation, and embodied self-awareness. Grounded in research and contemplative practice, our teaching approach helps individuals reconnect with their bodies, understand their nervous systems, and build sustainable inner resilience. Through this educational process, our learners gain practical tools to integrate mindful presence into daily life—at work, at home, and within themselves.
TMP is here to meet you where you are—tired, overwhelmed, and seeking a different way. We don’t offer quick fixes. We teach tools for sustainable, embodied transformation. Through education, compassion, and science, we help you move from surviving to thriving—intentionally, authentically, and with autonomy.
We are in the midst of a global mental health crisis. Nearly 60 million U.S. adults—about 1 in 4—experience a mental illness each year, and more than 12 million report serious thoughts of suicide (Mental Health America, 2024). In the workplace, 85% of employees report feeling burned out, emotionally exhausted, or overwhelmed (The Times UK, 2024).
Many are “sick and tired of being sick and tired”—searching for more than surface-level self-care. Traditional talk therapy often feels too cerebral or disconnected from the body. Medical systems can leave people feeling unheard and unsupported, especially those in caregiving or high-stress leadership roles.
TMP offers an alternative. A space for learning, not just fixing. Our programs blend academic insight with holistic practices to support meaningful change. Whether through virtual coaching, in-person bodywork, or retreats, we teach women to:
We teach from both evidence and empathy. For example, research shows that Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) can lead to measurable improvements in:

Somatic coaching is a body-centered approach to personal growth and transformation that integrates the mind, body, and nervous system. Rather than focusing only on thoughts, this approach honors how emotions, beliefs, and past experiences are stored in the body—and how mindful awareness and embodied practices can help release old patterns and foster healing.
Whether you're navigating personal growth, parenting a mindful teen, or looking to strengthen your relationship, our somatic coaching offerings are designed to meet you where you are. Explore individualized support that honors your body, mind, and lived experience.

We draw from trauma-sensitive, depth-oriented practices to help you thrive and to create a safe, compassionate space for change:
Uses mindfulness and curiosity to gently uncover unconscious beliefs and patterns, supporting compassionate self-discovery.
Focuses on the autonomic nervous system to safely release stored stress and trauma while building resilience through awareness of bodily sensations, pacing and movement.
Helps explore inner “parts” or subpersonalities, promoting self-leadership, compassion, and integration by building relationship with all aspects of the self.
Tracks and gently shifts unconscious body-based patterns, such as posture, breath, and movement that shape emotional responses, habits and relationships.
Provides a science-informed understanding of how the autonomic nervous system shapes our responses to stress, connection and challenge. Clients learn practical tools to recognize patterns of activation (fight or flight), shutdown, or overwhelm and to move toward greater regulation, flexibility, safety and connection.
Integrates evidence-informed yoga practices including breathwork, mindful movement and guided awareness to support nervous system regulation, embodied strength and sustainable wellbeing. Yoga therapy meets each person where they are, offering adaptable practices that enhance resilience, integration and mind–body connection.
A foundational practice woven throughout, mindfulness cultivates present-moment awareness, curiosity and compassionate observation. It supports noticing what is arising in the body and mind without judgment, strengthening agency and choice over time.
Together, these approaches invite you to ask not only, “What do I think?” but also, “What do I feel and know in my body?” Somatic coaching supports breaking free from stuck patterns, expanding emotional capacity, strengthening nervous system flexibility, and embodying lasting, sustainable transformation.
