Body Smart Kids Coaching

Somatic Education & Nervous System Support for Young Learners

Sessions built around your child, not a script, for students with unique abilities, IEPs, and homeschooling families. Now available through Florida scholarship programs.

Does your child know things but can't access them when it counts?

Bright. Capable. But some mornings, some homework sessions, some transitions, their body just won’t cooperate. The meltdown comes before the math. The shutdown happens before the sentence gets written. You’ve tried everything, you’re exhausted, and you love them fiercely.

You already know your child isn’t broken. What they need is a body that feels safe enough to learn.

That’s exactly what we do.

What Does "Somatic" Mean?

"Somatic" simply means "of the body." When a child is overwhelmed, telling them to calm down rarely works, because their body hasn't gotten the message yet that it's safe. Somatic work starts with the body instead of the mind: breath, movement, and physical awareness that help a child's nervous system actually settle, not just perform calm on command.

How It Works

Each 60-minute session is delivered by Michele McMoneagle, a Florida-certified ESE teacher with 23 years of classroom experience and advanced credentials as a Certified Yoga Therapist and Integrative Somatic Practitioner. On paperwork and scholarship platforms, this program is listed as Somatic Regulation for Learners with Unique Abilities.

Sessions are personalized to your child’s nervous system, their sensory world, and their learning profile. We don’t follow a script. We follow the child.

Over time, students build an internal toolkit of practical, portable regulation skills they can use in the classroom, at home, and everywhere in between.

This is educational support, not therapy. We work alongside your child’s clinical team, not instead of them.

Scholarship Families: How It Works

Using Your FESUA Scholarship

Step 1: Find Us

Search "The Mindful Prof" in the Florida Education Marketplace (EMA) at stepupforstudents.org/scholarships/myscholarshop. Log into your scholarship account first.

Step 2: Reserve Sessions

Select your sessions and check out. Your scholarship funds are reserved, nothing comes out of pocket.

Step 3: We Reach Out

Once your order is placed, we contact you directly to schedule and complete a brief intake.

Step 4: We Handle Billing

After each session we submit the invoice. Payment processes within about 3 business days.

Note: parents initiate all orders through EMA. The Mindful Prof cannot access or assist with your scholarship account. This protects your family and keeps the program’s integrity intact.

For Referring Providers

If you work with children who hold FESUA scholarships (OTs, SLPs, BCBAs, pediatric therapists, school counselors) we’d love to be in your referral network.

Our somatic education sessions complement clinical therapy. We stay in the educational and coaching lane: building self-regulation capacity, body literacy, and nervous system flexibility. Many of our students also work with ABA, OT, speech therapy, or mental health counseling.

We do not bill Medicaid, insurance, or any other payer for a session already paid through scholarship funds, and we’re glad to coordinate with your clinical team with appropriate parent consent.

FAQ

No. Somatic sessions are offered in a coaching setting and are educational in nature. We don’t diagnose or treat mental health or physical health conditions, and we work alongside clinical providers, not instead of them.

We currently accept FESUA, a Florida-specific scholarship, for individual somatic regulation sessions. Group enrichment programming for PEP scholarship families (also Florida-specific) launches in Spring 2027. Families outside Florida are welcome for virtual sessions, paid privately.

Not at all. Michele’s approach is gentle, playful, and entirely child-led. The first session is about curiosity and comfort, with no pressure to perform.

Yes. Virtual sessions are available nationwide and work well for most students. In-person sessions are available in the Tampa Bay area.

Every child is different. Many families begin with a 6-session commitment to build a foundation, and we’ll talk through what makes sense on your discovery call.

Absolutely, especially for younger children. We’ll figure out what works best for your child during intake.
